Infant Program

Where Early Moments Inspire Lifelong Learning
  • TopHat Childcare iconOur infant program in our school in Gaithersburg, Maryland, is part of our infant care programs in Maryland and is for the aged 2 months to 18 months old. Our teachers focus on the growth and development of each child. We encourage and help support every milestone. Our teachers use creative teaching strategies where we use.
  • TopHat Childcare iconAs caregivers spend focused time with each infant, deep attachments form. Consistent caregiving routines develop predictable, language-rich experiences that promote an individualized dialogue between the caregiver and the infants in their care. These anticipated experiences stimulate cognition and understanding, promote cooperation and language development, and foster the social and emotional aptitude of the infant.

Why a Nurturing Infant Environment Matters

A thoughtfully designed infant program plays a vital role in shaping overall development during the first year and a half of life. Early experiences set the stage for future emotional security, language acquisition, and cognitive readiness. The Infant Program emphasizes comfort, routine, and exploration so infants can feel safe while engaging with new sensory and social experiences. Caregivers observe developmental cues closely, ensuring that each infant receives attention that matches their unique needs and emerging abilities. With an emphasis on gentle guidance, infants gain trust, curiosity, and early communication skills. This supportive foundation allows each child to grow at a natural pace, creating a positive start to lifelong learning.

Key Features of the Infant Program

To give families clarity about what is included in the Infant Program, here are some of the essential components that shape daily experiences:

  • Responsive Caregiving: Caregivers provide attentive support that encourages emotional security and helps build strong, trusting relationships.
  • Language-Rich Interactions: Talking, reading, and singing throughout the day reinforce early communication skills and foster vocabulary exposure.
  • Developmental Support: Each activity is tailored to every infant’s milestones, promoting motor skills, sensory exploration, and cognitive growth.
  • Safe, Engaging Environment: Soft materials, age-appropriate toys, and clean learning spaces ensure comfort and safety during exploration.
  • Routine-Based Learning: Predictable schedules give infants a sense of consistency while reinforcing healthy habits such as feeding, resting, and play.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What Parents are Saying

My daughter has started going to Top Hat Childcare before she started walking and she’s now almost 5. I have to be honest, when it comes to small children, it’s very delicate, you either feel strongly about what you want for them or you’re ok with giving it a try and see how things go. The later approach worked for us, just like many other things in life. There were times were I would bring up concerns and I may have felt like my concerns were not taken into consideration the way I’d like, however eventually everything always worked out. The teachers and school members always did take note of our concerns. The staff is very friendly and polite.
